How does an author guide an idea to the page then into a published book? Listen in as
and I discuss the writing, self-publishing, and marketing processes she followed to create Empty-Nest Joy Ride. This beautifully crafted book and her equally elegant and colorful website didn’t materialize with a quick push of a button. It took a lot of learning, experimenting, and recalculating. The effort equalled the outcome. Our conversation wasn’t all craft. It also covered content. We discussed the emotional roller coaster of raising kids and watching them fledge the nest. We talked about her adult children and how they felt about having their personal stories known by a greater audience. Linda let us into her marriage and its constant evolution and reshaping as they moved from newlyweds to parents to empty nesters.
Linda and Tom share a love of biking. The sport provides plenty of metaphor for living a retirement life where parenting continues to shift and joy comes from paths unexpected.
Thank you to everyone who tuned into my first live video. This was also my first time sitting in the interviewer seat. The lesson learned is one learns by doing.
