Please Help Me Help Others
A special request of support for homeless dogs and the people who support them
I’m seeking donations for the non-profit Who Will Let the Dogs Out for their online silent auction. Your help will make a difference for homeless animals and the people who support them.
How Funds Are Used
Money generated from the auction will enable co-founders Cara Achterberg and Nancy Slatter to visit struggling animal care facilities in rural communities to lean what they need.
They then use their storytelling prowess and network of social media users to share what’s needed most.
To date, they have visited nearly 150 animal control facilities, shelters, and rescues.
Key Discoveries from Shelter Visits
At first, they were driven by one question, “Why is there an endless stream of unwanted dogs?”
They initially thought that people just didn’t care.
What they learned was a harder truth. Most people have no idea how abandoned animals are cared for in their communities.
It wasn’t that most don’t care. It was that most didn’t know. They assume someone has their back.
Raising Awareness Delivers Help & Hope
During each visit, Cara and Nancy spend hours with the animals and the people who support them learning how things work, how they are funded, how animals move, or don’t move, out of facilities.
They then share what they’ve learned through their social networks, books, podcasts, an Emmy-nominated documentary, and speaking engagements.
Their visits are creating lifelines.
Many shelters have been the recipients of increased volunteer assistance, funds to help feed animals and provide enrichment, products to improve facilities, and increased connections to rescues in other communities to move animals into homes.
Silent Auction Details
The silent auction runs September 27- October 7.
We are looking for donations of artwork, newsletter subscriptions, books – signed by an author would be a bonus, products for dogs and cats, event tickets, services, gift certificates, and weekend get aways.
Your support will help Cara and Nancy visit more shelters, raise more awareness, and get help where it is needed.
You can donate by messaging me directly or contacting Who Will Let the Dogs Out
We only have until September 15 to find as many donations to fill the online silent auction.
Your Help is a Lifeline
From my heart, I thank you for your support.

Don’t forget to share this with your network!
Here’s another post to give you a feel for the extraordinary work Cara does to end animal suffering. I Could Never Do What She Does
Thanks Cindy. We also need to turn up the heat on government funded spay and neuter programs for all. It’s only the right thing to do.
Thanks, @Jeanne Grant, Ph.D. for sharing!
