Vets and their assistants/techs have an unspeakably harrowing job. They are ultra sensitive and caring to go into the field to begin with. The pain and suffering they are witness to and try to alleviate is unfathomable. Then to try and comfort the family. My heart goes out to each and every one of them and I offer my unending thanks.
Thank you Cindy. I’m not certain a lot of pet owners know the emotional stress that veterinarians and their techs deal with. I know a veterinarian, a kind and compassionate soul, who twice (after the clinic closed for the day) has resorted to the anesthesia apparatus to turn off the pain. Once nearly completely.
With our current vets - one for our dog and the other for our cat - I make an extra effort to thank them for their service. They are saints!
Grief is a universal experience on this planet. Compassion is our held journey, our shared solace that reaches across species. Let LOVE be your blanket that you wrap around one another.
It is a hard topic, Cindy. Thank you for sharing this. How many times have I bawled my eyes out at the vet’s, not thinking about those who have to prepare the final elixir, console the grieving, take care of the stilled bodies of the pets who gave so much love? The story of the baby squirrel is heartbreaking. ❤️🩹

Thank you, Heidi, for recognizing that!

Oh wow. How heartbreaking for your friend, for you, and the others in their life to know of such deep pain. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing about Not One More Vet. It’s such an important organization, and I hope every vet will hear about it.
Me, too. I often wonder how many vets go into the profession truly understanding the impact of their job on their own health.

Beautiful!
I feel bad when I kill a bug, so I can only imagine how hard it is for vets to help animals pass.
Isn’t that the truth!
